HL2DM - FIRTH (Open Source VMF)
campaignjunkie@gmail.com

You may use this .vmf for anything. Your map, your mod, whatever. Scavenge parts from it, rip the teleporter entitywork out, anything.
But on one condition: Just give credit. Just a small "shout-out", as the kids call it these days. Thank you.

Now, I've decided to open-source this for a few reasons: People seem to like Firth despite it's horrible flaws, Firth HAS horrible flaws, and hopefully people will learn a few things from it. Personally, I consider Firth a failure, but it was a good learning experience with Source anyway. Beta 6 crashed Linux servers (unfortunately), probably due to the airboats. To my knowledge, all you need to do to get it Linux-ready is delete the 2 airboats. But I could be wrong. Nevertheless, I'm too discontent with this map to bother with reworking it. Perhaps someone else will? I don't know.

But be warned, anyone who does attempt to fix this debacle - the compile time is 1 hour+ (on a 3ghz, 1 GB RAM machine!), and others haven't even been able to compile it themselves. I don't know why. Also, ignore all weapon/item placement, it was all last minute and it is rather crappy. So, uh yeah. Have at it.

Special Thanks to:
- the Batcave at Chatbear
- the wonderful people at the Snarkpit
- Zypher (figured out the Canal-Lock functionality for me)

HL2DM - FIRTH
================================================

Beta 6
- The first (and the last) release. Some little bugs here and there, but definately playable, to say the least.
- Rumors of some bugs concerning the canal water. Can't really deny or confirm.
- Entered this version into Valve's HL2DM map competition.

Features
- Dynamic canal locks: In the central tower, there's a balcony with a button. Pushing it will trigger an alarm, warning people to get off the canal locks. After a short pause, the canal locks will open or close.
- Dynamic water: In the central canal area, there's a sewer. Follow the pipes back to a valve, where you can control the water level.
- Dynamic crane: In the warehouse, there's a small control room with a lever. Pulling it will move the crane-magnet back and forth. You can use it to kill people on the catwalk or to use as a platform for jumping.
- Teleporter: On opposite sides of the map lies resistance hideouts. Each hideout has a teleporter that can be used to teleport between them.
