Natural Selection (HL) Firefly

This is my first Natural-Selection map. It is a combat map set on a spaceship with the usual futuristic theme that Natural-Selection holds.

Natural Selection (HL) ns_siegeroomrush_v2

Very large map, 11 res for rines, 17 for aliens, essentially only 2 rooms to hold before the aliens are attacking the marine base.
Marines can rush early and take out 1 hive to slow the aliens down but unless against noobs are unlikely to push further.

Alterations since v1 will make "big room" a greater asset to hold in the game and increase gameplay, aliens have their own door to enter the siege room but if the marines hold the "ledge to defend" they will be able to close an "emergency door" buying them an extra 120 seconds using a weld point.
Changeable room in v1 has been downgraded to "not so changeable room" since the large moving walls were most likely responsible for server crashes.

*If you cannot connect to servers running ns_siegeroomrush_v2 you probably have an old version as i never called any "beta" etc, i just recompiled. To get it working download the zip from filefront and extract the files into your ns directory (overwrite all) or delete the bsp in ns\maps and try connecting to the server again.

Natural Selection (HL) co_minas

Co_minas is a custom "combat" map for Natural-Selection.

It is set on a small spaceship, the NSS Minas IV, property of Micro-Nano Systems, a private reseach corporation.

In response to an automatic emergency call, a nearby unit of TSA marines is dispatched there to investigate what is going on. Once they phase in, they find out the ship seems to be empty of human life, aimlessly floating in space.

After a quick briefing, their commander order a small squad to go check out the main engine, and try to restore it's power.

  • Sun and sea all around
  • Dark indoors and machines everywhere

  • Changes for version 2
o Clipping issues.
o More light in some areas.
o External Overlook will be redesigned.
o Hive will be moved by 64 units.
o A couple more rooms for break the corridor-ish layout.

Natural Selection (HL) Valhalla

Backstory:

The TSA is called upon to eradicate a Kharaa infestation in a sector of the thermonuclear power complex Kraken-4 on the frozen planet of Valhalla, operated by mega-corporation Gyrfalcon Energy. The Kharaa have already established a hive in the reactor core, and is rapidly breeding additional lifeforms in order to infest the entire complex. Kraken-4 generates nearly 100% of all the electricity on Valhalla; if it is lost, the colonies on Valhalla will not survive the harsh climate of the planet.

Although the weather may be freezing, the battle for control of Kraken-4 will surely be heated.

Natural Selection (HL) Derelict

The story for this map is that a civilian research vessel is found abandoned in deep space after an attack by the Kharaa. The marines are sent in to take control of the vessel before the aliens can establish a strong presence which will result in the loss of the ship and the valuable research data onboard.

The map itself is not the entire ship, but rather an isolated section of it where the Kharaa are active. The marines will start from the hangar of their command cruiser, which is docked with the research vessel.

Derelict uses mostly textures from the ns, ns2, and eon wads, and a few I made myself. The theme of the map is inspired by System Shock 2.

Natural Selection (HL) ns_hulk

UCC Cerebus, one of the few TSA ships equipped with a
hyperspace engine unit. Before her disappearance from
the Sol sytem two years ago, her ongoing mission was to
establish contact with new lifeforms in distant regions
of the Universe. Until just a few hours ago all contact
with the ship had been lost. At 23.6.2244 8:06 PM,
UCC Cerebus waspicked up on radar in close proximity to
Space Station Nothing. All communication attempts from
the residentTSA garrison at SSN have failed.

Space Station Nothing's executive TSA officer has decided
to send out small Frontiersmen unit to investigate the
situation. You now find yourself in the company of these men,
sitting in a dropship bound for the UCC Cerebus. Peering out
through a visual in the dropship a gargantuan asteroid can be
seen, embedded in the hull of the seemingly lifeless ship.
You glance up at the scanner readout as initial data from the
ship flashes up on the screen:

-REACTOR STATUS: NOMINAL-
-ESCAPE POD STATUS: TOTAL DESPATCH-
-HYPERDRIVE STATUS: INACTIVE; POWER AT MAXIMUM-
-OXYGEN CONTENT: NORMAL-
-ATMOSPHERE: BREATHABLE-
-NO LIFE FORMS DETECTED ON BOARD-

As you look around all you see are blank faces, masks painted
from an indelible monotone palette and cut from the archetypal
mould that is a Frontiersman's basic training. Their purpose is
to give the impression that this is just another routine operation,
but you know that behind each facade is the same c**ktail of emotions
that's being shaken up inside you. The anticipation, the excitement,
the fear.

Docking clamps awkwardly shunt into position around you jolting
this tin can claustrophobia in which you've found yourself imprisoned.
But it won't last long, you tell yourself as your eagerness to break
the tedium rises up inside you like a bloodlust. You can almost taste
the challenge that lies ahead, that which you have dreamt for for so
long. As you take your first steps out onto the deck of the
UCC Cerebus -adrenaline coursing through your veins- you know what
it is to be a Frontiersman.

an original concept by Rudolf "Rendy" Klenovsky.

im making a black mesa map for Natural selection (if you havent already guessed) with some stuff, its in early alpha stages at the moment, with the ready room complete with some of the marine side done. the link contains more details and screens.
UPDATE #2:
ive improved the grate area, ive added two blueshift style generators and a tram rail with cart for jetpackers and fades to sit in, ive also increased the hight of the area vastly, to accomodate for two large fans at the top, along with an actual cieling, the concrete textures are going to change too!

the marine spawn room is now not so box shaped, its got a curved roof with partially interesting lights,

the readyroom now has aligned textures! (not such a great thing to boast about, but it is done)
