"Death". What an imaginative name. Another map by this particular author was the recent Space One on One, which is also a Quake 3 conversion. This map is pretty much the same thing; it has the same scavenged Quake textures (which, in some cases, look like they've come from Quake 1), a few tries at curved surfaces and the same small, cramped killing floor. But seeing as there aren't any bottomless pits you can fall down to your doom, it's much more enjoyable this time.

There are two main rooms next to each other, one containing the gauss and the other an RPG, with a few small side rooms and corridors connecting them together. That's pretty much it; this is only meant to hold 3 players, maximum. There's some evil looking textures, presumably taken from Quake 3, which along with the dark lighting creates an ominous setting. There's not much in the way of sounds, but if you listen carefully you'll hear something when someone picks up the RPG or gauss.

There hasn't been the greatest amount of effort put into making this map, but there aren't any obvious design flaws (except some stretched wall textures) and it is very fun against only 1 or 2 other people. The size means that 'weapon & item placement' isn't really an important thing I should be looking at- there's two powerful weapons on this map, as well as the 9mmAR/shotgun and some tripmines. There's not really much space to use the RPG without hurting yourself, and spawn mining can become a problem. No matter; the point is that you're just meant to be fighting constantly and the more kills the better. It's recommended if you have means of playing a handful of other people, and enjoy wh%ping their butts, but stay away if you're turned off by endless, mindless killing or want to play a map that took more than a day to make- hence the fairly low score. It's just too small, and will get boring quickly for most.

Design
Suitable textures & lighting mean make a gloomy setting

Gameplay
Constant killing & mayhem...

Verdict
Just grab a weapon and fight- there's nowhere to run.
