I have uploaded the first pictures of the maps, and later to day there will be more.

I hope there would be people here who can come up with some comments regarding the skinns we would use to be sure we hit the look more like the old "crossfire"

And thats it, updating later to day with picture of how far we have come..

This is Source, you can expand on the blocky, simplistic look of crossfire, without detracting from the gameplay, or letting the player think they're playing anything but crossfire.

It looks like crossfire, but there's a lot more you can do with the crossfire layout. Think about making a 3D skybox, sprucing up the three balconies in the first pic of your second post with some detail brushwork and props.
You can also add foliage in the central area between the (four?) buildings, shrub brush on the ground, and ivy hanging from the balconies.
Also change the texture of the dock. Docks are rarely tile. -Facepunch

Get rid of that "London in autumn" look for the sky. A HL1 map needs a bright, blue, sunshiny sky. I can't stand those white/gray ones from HL2 anymore.
Why snark works.

Look at the bottom link on this page, it's a bunch of skybox textures for HL2.
