Guys,

I've been working on a single-player mod for Half-Life 1 for ages now. I need people to test it out so that I'll know it'll work on other people's machines. Basically I've tested it out on the latest non-Steam version of Half-Life on my computer, and there are no bugs, but I'm not sure how it'll work on other versions. I'm having trouble finding people to test it so if you can that would be great.

Anyway, if you're interested in testing it, you can see a trailer for it here:

You can download the mod in it's current form here:

EDIT

I've noticed some people having problems with that link so I've uploaded it here, too:

By the way, important note that will be fixed before this is released. Remember, you can't blow the SAM launcher up with normal weapons. You need something more powerful.

OK, that's it. If anyone can playtest this and give me some feedback that would be great. Thanks.

Tripod is complaining that I can't download. I'd love to test this though, good to see people still working on HL1.

EDIT: Works now

Shit.

But thanks for the reply. Try copying and pasting the link into your browser, instead of clicking on it. That worked for me. I'll see if I can get it put up somewhere else.

Map 1
-The broken bottoms of the glass sheets are a great place to get stuck, especially when crouched. A thin CLIP along the bottom should fix it nicely.

Map 2
-You can get over the railings outdoors and see the ugly parts of the map as well as get stuck in the hole. Not everyone uses their tripmine yet :)
-One of the rocks spanning a corner on the balcony is nulled on top I think, gives a HOM

Osprey map
-You can grenade jump on to the top and fool around behind the map
-The osprey fight was very easy. The gun is right by the entrance so as soon as you take out the two grunts the osprey is toast. Reinforcements died about halfway down the rope. Maybe put the gun on the other side of the room with some more grunts.

Map after osprey map
-Same problem here, and you can get on the cliffs too. Don't even need to grenade jump - you can surf up the cliffs quite easily
-As you're about to change to the next map, there is a HOM on the left of the wall behind the grate. Looks fine in the next map

Lift shaft map
-You can climb down the ladder into the blackness. It's a bit weird since black looks best if light fades towards it, giving the illusion that there's more the player can't see.

Destroyed SAM map
-I could be sure the gate at the far end of the SAM part (where the osprey was behind) had a button next to it? Maybe not
-If you look on top of the tank at the SAM part the body overlaps the tracks

Hangar map
-I didn't lag at all put was getting 2k wpoly 8k epoly in the hangar. You did a good job optimising the area, only thing I can think of to fix is that the whole sewer is visible from the hangar. Try putting a hint brush near the ladder
-Killing all the grunts without getting noticed is a fun challenge :D

Overall it was fun to play. I played on Hard without too much difficulty (hardest parts were long grunt battles). The barnacle part was creative too, and I spent a lot of tries at first trying to kill the barnacle and strafe jump to the ledge, good puzzle. The voice acting was also good and very clear.

Awesome, thanks mate. I'll check out your points tomorrow. The stuff about the glass letting you get stuck is really useful. I might not be able to fix the HOM effects but I'll definitely use a lot of that feedback so thanks.

I've had this thing half-done for like, 5 years now. It's pretty ridiculous really. So to be honest I just want it working about as well as HL1 did. The main thing is that it works when the player isn't trying to make it screw up eg by climbing out of the map on top of tripmines etc. lol I don't mean to be rude with that, I appreciate you mentioning it anyway.

Someone told me that sometimes the doors don't open after the Osprey fight, but I've never had that bug. I take it the doors after the Osprey always opened ok for you?

Osprey doors are fine for me, only tried it once though. Is there somewhere you can stand to wedge them shut? Anyway fair enough about trying to break the map, I like to put some CLIP around scenery just to be sure and possibly reduce compile time, but at least you can't fall out of HL maps anymore :P
