<DIV class=quote>
<DIV class=quotetitle>? quoting mazemaster</DIV>
<DIV class=quotetext>Dude, just do whatever you want and have fun. Different people map for different reasons and thats OK. </DIV></DIV>

i tend to reflect this thinking, but in this case, its a waste. the person in question is not old enough yet to comprehend the subtleties ans nuances of it all.

mapping should be first and foremost fun. not to the people playing it, but to the person doing it. if however, your sights are set so low as to reflect a disdain for the art, one must expect some sort of an effect that outlook incites.
anywho's, maybe in a couple years when this guy is 12 or so, he will be ready to map. right now, i think he needs to just play other peoples works. :/

OMG I AM SO CONFUSED. I think I'm just done mapping. God I jsut wanted to have fun and everything sucks now.
doin't give up. I made 1 map for regular CS (an fy map) and it sucked so bad. So i gave up(im back now 9my first map in 2 yrs.) Just keep wokring on it, Just make more fy maps, but don't release them, learn to be good at hammer, and level design and once you get there start releasing some stuff, it will look alot better than your first map.

I think what kills this map the most is that blaring full brightness / full bright feel to it ;P

You were talking earlier about making a Gauntlet-style map.

Am I correct in thinking it'd be a maze-ish type deal, kinda like the original Gauntlet?

That would be great for HL2DM. I'm not a perfect mapper myself,
hell, I can hardly spend more than an hour just messing around, nothing
ever comes out of it. But I think a map like that would be pretty
cool for DM. You'd just have to work that much harder on
polishing it, so it's not just a bunch of random walls.

Do something I don't do, and plan it out.

But don't get me started on this map. :razz: Even as a relative n00b, I can see it needs lighting and texture work.

But keep at it, and don't give up.

it would have been for cs. It owuld have been a series of obstacles that they must get through using tema work but now I am making cs_haunted, it is almost completly planned out on graph paper.
