I'm wondering what the best tool for viewing and working with wad files would be. Also, wondering if there is a tool to grab the textures from a bsp file

Hello
I dare to say that will be WALLY If we are talking about GoldSource (hl1.etc..) .
It is old one but handy easy to use, but not very much for editing textures.

You open wand export texture than edit in whatewer program (photoshop is nice)
tahn import back to wad file.

Because of this was looking for HL2 tools what they are like, but unfortunately cant say nothing ...

Link to download Wally

I think another good program for working with Wads and viewing, importing, and exporting contents from a Wad would be GCFscape.
You can find it here: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26
It's also useful for Half-life 2 as well, as working with VPF files is the same thing.
