I notice that these building props are rather bulky and dumb looking
when used right in a map and they also are not solid. I figure that
must be why the "skybox" thingy is in there. Whats the deal? Thanks

P.S.- I've used prop_dynamic, prop_physics, and prop_static. Static
didn't render so I know thats wrong but dynamic was clippable. Couldn't
tell if physics was clippable as it fell off edge of map. I'll check it
out and get back to you.

Okay it wasn't prop_physics that rendered it was prop_physics_override that rendered and it was not clippable.

Static is what I use for them, they work fine for me. Check to make sure you didn't drag out the view-dist circles from the center of the model.

The 'skybox' models are best used in the 3d skybox portion of the map, as they'll get rendered a lot larger. The big buildings themselves might be useful if you use brushes to clip them off, though they're a bit big to be of a horrible amount of use to me, in my opinion. Maybe you have a better idea re: their usage.
