When I open a picture in Photoshop the colors seem darker.

This picture...

...looks like this in Photoshop:

Then, if I add something to the picture, like some red color...

...and save it, it looks like this outside of Photoshop:

The same happens if I take a screenshot and then paste it into Photoshop. I've tried reinstalling.

Does anyone know what might be causing this problem and how to fix it?

Have you tried the Gamma Calibration utility?

Should be in your C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Calibration folder and/or a control panel applet.
