***For your information, 2442 solid(s) were not loaded due to errors in the file.***
^This is the error I get now. Now whenever i go to a
certain area in 3D view, Hammer gets very choppy and responds very
slow...too slow. What happenned? Well, I was attempting to carve
a previously carved area in a wall. Four brushes representing
trim were selected at the time which was also made by carving.
When I did this, Hammer just put on the breaks. I freaked out,
because I havent saved for 3-4 hours and hit save! Yes,
without renaming it or anything  ! I felt like I just locked my keys
in the car! Then I think Hammer just crashed after that.
So now whenever I start Hammer (see above). When I close my map in Hammer I get this on a white screen:
"Removed 42 object group(s) with no children.□
Opened MyDirectory\sourcesdk_content\cstrike\mapsrc\mymap.vmf"
My CS:S map appears to compile fine and run normal.
Other maps open ok, Valve maps open ok. I've even tried it on
another computer getting the same error! With Hammer running like
crap I cant even make the map bigger and badder. So whats the
point. Hammer is just too slow for my creative process! I need
help!!! WTF! is Hammer losing steam?? (Sorry for the weak-ass pun)

well sir, not to be rude, but im thinking you suffer from " dodgy brushwork practices"....carve responsibly, if you must use it.....use your vertex tool to stay on the grid, and you should be fine, imho, unless i missed something? if it got kicked out during compile, its defective.... been awhile tho, i may be crazy... :heee:

Yes I'm sure I do. I realized that after searching the web all
day for answers. Who knew you couldn't use a tool included with
Hammer...Heavin forbid! So is it a carve error then? Is it
fixable? Hopefully I wont have to start over. BTW
Frank Zappa is the man!

actually, imho, it sounds like theres enough flawed brushes that it might be worth redoing some of the more ....um....jacked up areas....how much time do you want to use on the vertex tool too is another point....

Ok so what would you do. I've carved a lot of walls. I've
already spent 25+ hours on this map. I thought I was doing a good
job. But, if its poor practice to carve often I'll stop doing
it. Basically, I have a awesome map but am willing to sacrifice
it to learn the most professional way to map. You have a ton more
experience than me, should I scrap it or fix it? Which way would
I learn more from my mistakes? I've already learned that pesky
"save often rule" I think. Thx!

Oh, I also forgot to mention that when I start deleting walls and
windows in that room. The first error goes away but second one
remains. Hammer speeds up a little but still runs like crap, only
when I look towards the area where the afformentioned error originally
took place. It slows down in all the screens not just the 3D
view. Definatly not enough speed to carry on with the
map though.
