Is it possible to take the cs 1.5-1.6 maps and opent them up in
hammer....I dont care about the detail I just want the scale.....Thanks

I'm not entirely sure which hammer you're referring to or what you mean
when you say maps. Hammer for HL1 or HL2? ".rmf"s or
".bsp"s?

If you mean opening up the BSP and viewing the map in Worldcraft 3.4/5
(aka. Hammer for HL1) then no that's not possible. You have to
decompile it so that it's a ".rmf" file. That you can open in
Hammer for HL1.

If you meant whether or not you could open up old CS BSPs in Hammer for
HL2, then the answer is still no. As far as I know you'll have to
decompile it so that it's a ".rmf" and then follow this tutorial for
convering HL1 .rmf's to HL2 .vmf's:

Summary:

You need the .rmf if you want to convert your map to Source. If
you only have the .bsp file you'll need to find a decompiler.
After you get the .rmf you can convert it to a source .vmf by following
this tutorial:
