Hi guys
I'm new to mapping, so please bear with me. I've searched for the answer to this problem, but so far all though I've found lots of helpful stuff, nothing has specifically answered this problem.
I have placed a point_spotlight entity under a prop that I'm using for a light. It appears fine at run-time. But it's too low and has a hard upper edge where it doesn't meet the light. If I move the point_spotlight up higher (into the prop) then it disappears altogether.
Is there some way I can move it up to look better, but not have it occluded by the prop?
Cheers all,
Deux

I've never had this problem, but you could try placing it above the
prop. Or try reducing the grid size and try and placing it more exactly.

Ok, what I've done is to swap the lamp for a prop_dynamic instead of a prop_static. This now lets me move the point_spotlight up so that it sits nicely with the upper part of the lamp and looks fine.
No idea what effect changing the prop type will be, but hey.. it works!

Most likely it will cause the prop to not show up when you compile...

Thanks for the replies.
French, yes.. I thought that might be the case too, however, it shows up just fine. Actually, being at work, I don't have HL2 installed, so I can't give you exact file names. But what did happen was the lamp I was using first (big white bulb, in props_c17 folder) was showing up when compiled as a prop_dynamic. But, when I switched it to the office lamp, it didn't show up (this only showed up when compiled as prop_static). Anyway, being new, I have no idea why this is - it's all confusing to me!
But it seems to work for now. I may revisit it when I have more of the map built.
Cheers,
Deux
