Ok guys, I know I already said I was getting a new one and was going to
pay monthly, but I took some of the advice and just sat around and
waited till I had money for a pimp computer.

So, I have come to ask for help. I am really not sure to what I want
aside from the hard drives and RAM (1 gb). See, I'm no computer expert.
And I don't know whats the best and whats not good at all. I'm looking
to spend about $2,000. $2,500 IF I NEED TO (The
extra $500 being paying for things like, Windows, a new copy of Half
Life 2 because I'm VAC banned and it sucks, and any other software I
might need).

What I want the following, but I'm not good at telling whats what and
if they are decent, I need opions, specs, and reasons why I should get
it

Also, tell me if I left anything out, Keep in mind I want this to be a
fully function thing that connects to the internet (i have a router
already), because truly, I don't know what I need to connect, I've
always just had brad name computers.

-Top of the line, best video card on the market (I don't care how much it costs, this is going to be a gaming/media computer)

-A CD/DVD burner and player

-17" monitor (flat panel)

-Sound card

-Mouse

-Keyboard

-Case (I'd like it to be a fancy one with LEDs and like a glass panel
on the side to see in, either that or a shuttle case, also I am not
sure if cases come with their own power suply)

-Cooling Fans

-Mother Board

-AMD Athlon 64 (there are different types and I dont know which one is the fastest

-Speakers

This is going to be my first computer Ive ever built instead of like went down to Best Buy and bought  .

kk, windows, i envy you right now, i've been begging to get some money for a new PC, but man, u sure its just guna cost for 2'000 - 2'500, like in Australian Dollars, something like that would cost 3'000-4'000 Australian (Which is probably s**t all, but if I wanted alienware stuff it would be past the 7'000 mark

$2,000? I have an idea, I'll build what you want for $1100 and you give me the rest.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I was going to say something similar myself. My current machine listed for around 2,500. I built it for under 1,000. Its a last years model (early 2005) but its fast enough for me.
There is no history until something happens, then there is.

-Top of the line, best video card on the market (I don't care how much it costs, this is going to be a gaming/media computer)
Not my area of expertise.
-A CD/DVD burner and player
anything should do, they're all pretty fast these days. Cost: $100-$200
-17" monitor (flat panel)
I can't recommend a brand, just get one from a well known company. Cost: minimum of probably $200
-Sound card
Something from Creative. If you don't get a creative sound card, you might as well be using the IBM MWave combo sound card/ethernet. (?) Cost: probably $50-150
-Mouse/Keyboard
logitech. I would suggest their optical mouse/keyboard wireless combo, unless you're paranoid about wireless, but get something from logitech. Cost: about $70.
-Case (I'd like it to be a fancy one with LEDs and like a glass panel on the side to see in, either that or a shuttle case, also I am not sure if cases come with their own power suply)
You would be a good candidate for an acrylic case, all of the case is transparent! Those're expensive though, I think probably about $150 (without a power supply.)
-Power Supply/Cooling Fans
350 watt minimum, from a good company, can't think of the names right now. Fans, you can get cheap from anywhere, about $10-15 apiece , power supply, probably $150-300.
-Mother Board
Again, not my area of expertise. Price will probably be from $70-200.
-AMD Athlon 64
Good choice. For the details, I'm not the person to ask.
-Speakers
Don't get speakers. Get a good stereo. Much more fun.
Have fun with your new computer!
