Creating default cubemaps for env_cubemap using skybox materials:

skybox/sky_day01_08*.vmt

Run buildcubemaps in the engine to get the correct cube maps.

No such variable "$hdrbasetexture" for material "skybox/sky_day01_08rt"

Can't load skybox file skybox/sky_day01_08 to build the default cubemap!

I dunno searched forum, tutorials etc. but i really don't know what they mean and what about the cubemaps

Even after building cubemaps in the engine.

Help me out plz..

Everyone gets this error, it's safe to ignore it. It's will not effect the game at all.

Complex Explaination:

It's caused from the HDR update, the compile tools support it, but the engine does not fully support HDR. Because HL2 does not support HDR, none of the skys have been remade to support HDR.

What does this mean about cubemaps? Well, there are two kinds of cubemaps, HDR and none HDR. The non HDR is what you'll see in the game. The HDR cubemaps cannot be created because the sky does not support HDR.

ok thnx a lot. Already found it that everyone gets it, in the sdk reference... :razz: but thanks anyways!
I just started mapping again. Only been mapping for hl1 and started again and lovin it!
