This is probably old, but it's still pretty cool. The potential to
revolutionise cinema and advertising, and hey, we could be
communicating like Star Wars in a few years time:

Cheoptics 3D

no, I think it actually can display 3D images 360?. Just like R2D2.

Now if these large metal poles didn't hang in the field of view all the time it would be even better.
Why snark works.

I imagine it would display 3D images if each projector was projecting video taken from a different angle relative to the other projections.

I'm not entirely sure what makes the light stop, however.

Right now, we're making "3D video" by simulating depth perception by projecting two images on top of each other. You still need glasses for that to work, however, so each eye can only see one angle. If you just look at the image it will be blurred and there'd be traces of blue and red on either side.

I think this thing is more for company advertising than anything. I could see many companies putting this system on a roof and advertising, for example.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

The best thing about the display is that you can watch the videos from anywhere in the room and still you will get the same image.
Your answer. If everyone see's the same image, from different angles, obviously the image doesn't alter according to the angle (making it seem 3D), thus it is 2D.
