I've had a look around, but been unable to find anything about this in the forums or tutorials. I've made a map, there are light_environments, lights and NPCs. Upon compiling the map, the lighting seems at first to have workd, with surfaces darker where they should be, surface of the NPCs changing colour/shade as they move through the lights, etc. Problem is, they themelves do not cast shadows. I think I'm missing something here, as I know they're supposed to - they do in singleplayer, after all.

Any help would be much appreciated!

You only need one light_environment: It's the setting for light cast from the sky.

The rest should be simple, spherical "light" entities, or "light_spot" entities for spotlights.

To tweak the shadows cast by NPCs, use the shadow_control entity.
Why snark works.
