Forest Insurrection - Hostage Rescue

Counter-Terrorists: An Elite Rescue Team has been air lifted to an old building at the far end of the valley. Your mission is to rescue the remaining 4 hostages from the terrorist's stronghold and bring them back safely to the

insertion point. If the rescue mission is not going well, there is an old cave that you bring the hostages to where they will be safe.

Terrorists: You were already given a large ransom payment for the hostages but decided to ask for more money. Being that you don't like to hear "no", your group killed one of the hostages and will kill more unless the extra money is delivered!

Funtime is over. Someone must pay!

By way of introduction, I am "Redclaw" and I have spent the last 4 years mapping for AVP2. I also served as a map reviewer for PlanetAVP.

About 6 months ago I jumped in the Half Life 2 and CounterStrike arena feet first. It's been a total blast and I love the HL2 world.

Installation
Unzip the files cs_forest_insurrection_v1.bsp:

WARNING
Changing the map name from "cs_forest_inssurection_v1.bsp" to anything else will cause

all the special visual effects (specularity) to stop working as the cubemaps have been compiled

for this map filename only. Basically the map will look like crap if you change it's name.

Description
dm_forest_vendetta_v1: Is a bright sunlit valley filled with trees, rocks, old buildings, and a large stream.

The Combine military has established a formidable stronghold in the valley. They have become obsessed with finding the Resistance?s hideout and

the location of their hidden teleporter. It has been reported by the Combine high command that the teleporter is somewhere in the old farm building that they have been using as a base of operations. Recent searches of the building have yet to yield any clues as to its location. The Resistance has been able to use it at night to get up into some of the higher rocky areas and rain down fire on them.

The mission is to find the Resistances base and find the teleporter at all costs.

Description
Arctic Vendetta is a bitterly cold world with a old hydro plant nestled in a deep snow filled valley. The facility is closed for the season

so no one is supposed to be there. I have included two Arctic maps...one is a nice sunny day at 20 degrees (F) and another

map where it's a lot colder, darker, and snowing. Have fun exploring the place and with all my maps...there is a secret room and

some nasty traps. This is my first major HL2 Deathmatch map release and I am sure I still have a lot to learn. So please go easy on me

folks if it is not quite up to what other people are releasing. I hope people will appreciate the hard work and effort that went into

these two maps.

Upate Information - V3
Bug fixes:

-Fixed floating rock cluster models.

-Fixed mountian with damaged displacement brush

-Removed most distorted textures and cleaned up displacement geometery in places.

-Smoothed out some terrain rough spots.

-used a new snow ground texture that removed a light dampening mask as well as the sliding effect.

Other fixes:

-retextured several of the hills

-reblended the textures on many of the cliffside brushes to match groundcover.

-added a new terrain base to allow for more brushes and better lighting.

Additions:

-new lighting system with a stronger light and more detailed shadows (reset texture lightmaps to 32 instead of 64) for terrain

-added a an env_sun object (Sun map version only)

-added a secret teleporter (you will need to find it to see where it takes you).

-added some pine trees

-a few new pickups around the map

-made it possible to climb some of the other hills to improve game flow
