I'm having a weird problem with an alpha blend material I made. When I apply it to a displacement map it works fine and shows up in hammer, but ingame the two textures are reversed. I can fix it ingame by reversing the alpha in hammer, but it's kind of awkward to work with it backwards like that.
The VMT file contains:
"WorldVertexTransition"
{
"$baseTexture" "de_cbble/grounddirt"
"$baseTexture2" "zh_garbage/garbage"
"$surfaceprop" "metal"
}
I've tried swapping the textures and I get the same result. There are no error messages. I'm mapping for CS:S, and zh_garbage/garbage is a custom texture.

Yes, I have that problem too, but so do more people...I think it's some glitch in the engine or something, but anyways, the only way you can solve it is by simply, indeed, reversing the alpha in hammer when you are done editing. Works fine for me.
You could group displacement maps together if you don't want to click each indidual brush each time you need to alter something...and when you group them together you can mass reverse alpha too :wink:

blink
That was a year ago.
It was reported on the Verc forums and fixed shortly after in a Steam update.

Mark your post as a correct answer so it doesn't come up as unanswered any longer.
This is still an issue, as far as I can tell. Mine are still reversed.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
