Yeah , i'm curious on if its possible to create HDR effects with
hammer. Explanations on what is needed to get it working would be nice.

I think this was brought up recently, and I'm pretty sure that you
can't do it until they release an update to the SDK about it, but I may
be extremely wrong.

To my understanding, it's just an engine related thingie, and hammer
doesn't have to be upgraded. The technique for HDR was already in all
HL2 games before their showcase was released(The Lost Coast). I think
it just has something to do with the textures. But I might as well be
wrong. I suggest you look up the other thread about this.

It's the compiler. Look it up on the source SDK, once the HDR compiler is released there should be info about how to use it there.
