Thanks Orpheus. Good to be here.
I'll take the risk with posting the wip. Imitation is the sincerest form of etc...
ps
The snarklink to the zip doesn't work, but pasting the link from the message does.

Geez, the last shot looks good. I can't even say why.
The story sounds quite different, very promising indeed.
I almost overlooked the download link. I might give it a try.
Update:
Just played through the map and I'm quite impressed, especially considering the 50%-status. The little puzzles are working. I like the more quiet tone of the map, makes you think over your next step.
2 complaints:
First it's very easy to get stuck. Remember that players are unbelievably stupid. For example I stood in front of the wall close to the end of the map and had no idea how to go on. Make sure every puzzle part is uber-obvious (I'd recommend a crack in the wall where you can see the other side for example).
Also the lighting needs work. Many parts are lit by constant white-ish lighting, which I think is problematic with HL2 textures. They are all very grey and lack contrast, thus turning any non-colored light in a grey shimmer that's everything but exciting. Use contrast between cold blue neon-lights and intense yellow light bulp lights. Also leave some areas black where it doesn't matter. The floor should be bright so you see where you going but you can leave some of the ceilings almost pitch-black and probably get some more contrast through that.

Thanks for that.
I'll try out some of the lighting techniques you mentioned. At the minute most of them are white, with a few pale yellow. Maybe more colour intensity wouldn't go amiss.
