how do i make cheats work in hl1?

i have brought down the server and typed ''noclip'' but it doesnt do anythin

It's been a while since I used cheats in HL1, but I think you have to type "sv_cheats 1" in console, then you can use cheats.

"sv_cheats" stands for "server: use cheats" and "1" means "activate" (default is "0", deactivated).
Why snark works.

If you have steam than you have to type 'sv_cheats 1' in the console before you can use cheats. To bring up the console you have to press `. Also make sure the console is enabled in the options.

For non-steam half-life, find the shortcut for the damn game, right click > properties, where it says target: , add ' -dev'. Here is what my shortcut for cheats looks like :'C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -dev'.

And you cant use cheats in multiplayer for the non steam version.
