I'm having trouble creating a door that opens up like a basement door.

How do I make a door open up from the ground?

Make a brush that you want and give it the property Func_door then make the position for it to go 'up' and if you want it to come from the ground check the starts open box. And thats it

Just for a little clarification:

The func_door's position in the map is considered its "closed" position. If you set in its keyvalues under "Spawn Position" to "Open," the door will spawn in the opposite position you placed it in within Hammer. The "Open" position is determined based on the "Move Direction (Pitch Yaw Roll)" keyvalue. If you want it to begin opened (like in the floor), then click the drop down list arrow next to the black circle with the white line and select "Down" and position your door in Hammer as if it was already closed. So the move direction tells the door which way to move from its place in Hammer.

-Hope that helps a bit.
