I have a suggestion, what about an NS section in editing? You have an so far empty TF2 and Portal section and there are a few articles floating round for NS, the one in Mods, the one about overlay lighting, the one with electrical arcs. I would be happy to make some articles for it.

I do think for the multiplayer games you should edit the tabs such as NPCs and add a tab for things like theories, gameplay, map balancing. It's just a suggestion and I know NS isn't as big as TF2 or CS or anything but I know people who want to know how to map for NS, so please think about it.

Yeah... whats there is just what was ported over from the old site and the organisation wasn't too good. Its hopefully gonna be easy enough for the site admin monkees to be able to add/modify all the sections now, so suggestions for what needs adding/changing I would think should be fair game and pretty helpful :)

I'm not much use when it comes to organising the content though as I've no idea what half of it is :) NS could be "new socks" for all I know :D

My bad, there isn't an individual mod category for NS. I think they shall have to remain in mods, Jim. Perhaps renaming the titles would aid people looking for NS stuff. As it happens, we don't have a lot of NS tutorial content and it's an old game now so it could seem slightly redundant to accommodate as suggested.

NS stands for Natural Selection, a free mod for Hl1 played through Steam, its basically marines vs aliens, with a twist of RTS :D

It was the 2nd most played mod of HL1, no-one can compete with CS anymore as a mod :)

I know it's old but you do have empty TF2, Source, Unreal Tournament and Portal areas, that means more than half of your game tabs are empty, surely you could replace Unreal Tournament, I've never heard much of the game and what I have no-one maps for it.

But we are more likely to get Portal or TF2 content than we are NS. In all honesty, the mapping scene is extremely quiet, especially for content driven sites like this - forums and possibly mapping threads for WIP are buoyant enough but the age of tutorials is over. Unless larchy has the time to do it and there is enough demand, I can't see the point to splitting the categories down further and creating more work - sorry.

Well all the categories etc can just be handled from the control panel

I think there are some TF2 maps (cp_race?) but there wasn't a TF2 category on the old site and the maps mustn't have had their cats updated by the authors. I think there are a couple of Portal maps in the same situation.

There is a HalfLife > Natural Selection category with 54 maps, so not sure what more you're asking for tbh

I actually remember playing NS back in 2000/2001 for a bit :D

An NS section in the articles he wanted, rather than them be filed under "mods". Maps etc are fine.

I don't think this is a tool already or not, but for admins, an ability to switch maps, articles and downloads into different categories might help. For example, I think we have about 3 or 4 Portal maps, but only one is actually listed under Portal. If the admins could re-organize the maps, then that would help out more rather than hoping for the author to do it eventually, which they may never.

Just like admins can move threads to a different forum, they should also be able to move maps to a different mod or game!

Sounds sensible enough, I'll take a look at enabling that.

I've an odd feeling that you might already be able to do it actually, there just isn't actually a link to it...

Yus, no worries, the option should be there now at the very bottom of the map page Riven
