Thought I'd create this thread for people to post other people's work (preferably level design in preferably the Source engine) that they think is particularly cool.

Hopefully in the future, people can browse this thread for ideas, inspiration or motivation for their own work.

I'll start, I was looking through a 3D artist's portfolio and particular piece caught my eye. It's some decayed factory rooms in the Source engine using custom content which I can only assume he created.

Robert Briscoe's Counter-Strike Source level, de_forest. Not only great visuals and a fun map to play on, but he's optimized the map very well and it runs great!

This map called Russia has gone through a lot of iteration. Originally designed by Robert Briscoe for Nuclear Dawn this was handed to Wesley Tack and went through another 16 months of iteration for Off Limits.

Yea, I had been following the development of that map for a little while, then lost sight of it. It looks like a really well-designed map that's been through maybe few-too-many mappers' hands which would explain it's immense amount of detail with everyone wanting to leave their mark. Yea, that's an aspiring project; I totally agree with your pick there Aaron; but to aspire to that particular level of detail outside a team effort or professional dedication might be a little mad IMHO. But really great map nonetheless -at least in screenshots and videos.

A deathmatch map for Half-Life 1 called Mayacore by Templer, who I think is a member here and I've got on my msn contact list. It looks really impressive, especially considering it's for Half-Life 1. Good level design and custom content.
