Inquiring minds hesitate to know

Blu-Ray (yes blu) is meant to be out this year, but there's a competitor from asia I think, also coming out this year. The shelf life for written DVDs or other multilayered discs is lower than for CD-Rs.

seriously. back a long time ago, I went to the PC store I used to always go to, and they were selling CD-R's in packs of 5 for 20bucks (now you can get 5 with full size jewel case for 5$) but yea they were selling them about 6 months before they started selling burners. And those burners were external only.

OK, you said 'they had media before writers', I thought you were saying 'they' as in 'the computer industry'. Then when it turned out that 'they' was just 'your local shop', what you said made sense. I don't see what the tense has to do with it.
