error message when perfoming VRAD in compiler

When i compile my map i get this when it tries to do VIS

Can't load C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\diablobasher\sourcesdk\bin\filesystem_steam.dll.



Ive got no idea what this means, there is a filesystem_steam.dll in the appropriatte folder so i dont see the problem, but then when i play the map it sets it to fullbright as it cannot detect any lighting.

old hammer, that i ust started giving weird errors and making the map
fullbright.

i had to re-install it :sad:

my errors where that it could find files too, so i think that might be your problem :S

Reinstall :sad: , what all my HL2 stuff including steam?

I dont think i can uninstall the sdk or even hammer, what would you suggest i do?

It sux, makes me want to kick steam valve and etc.
It worked before the SDK update O_o

I already reinstalled the SDK, gave me the same error.

Mine worked after the SDK update, but when my bro ruined my PC and i had to fromat everything. When i reinstalled HL2 steam ect and updated the sdk i get this error, ill reinstall ans see what happens, SDK is just updating now.

When I try to run the compiler using a simple batch file (*.bat). It gives me 2 errors on VRad, one comes from Windows its self saying "Steam.dll cant be found". Then VRad stops, saying: "it cannot load FileSystem_Steam.dll".

I completely reinstalled HL2 and valve and the SDK and now it workd like a charm, dunno what the problem was though....

(You only need to reinstall the SDK- Lep.)

I had the same problem, and reinstalling the SDK (nothing else) fixed it. I think it was caused by an old version of the .DLL from the beta :/

Ok. I reinstalled the SDK but it still gives me an error.

Could anyone be so kind to upload FileSystem_Steam.dll ?

haha, I solved the problem

You need to boot hammer trough steam SDK, once in the SDK menu select a game you want to edit from the drop box at the bottom of the screen, then start hammer then press file -> run.

Works now.
