Hands

Now many people can agree that drawing hands is very difficult but with the right techniques and practice it can be mastered. There are many tutorials on this and I am just going to provide some links and give you some tips on drawing hands. First off I recommend that you look at either your own hands or pics of others and study them very carefully. The first thing to mastering hands is to understand their structure just the way that you would with a building or a human body. The middle finger is the longest finger and the pinky and thumb are aproximently the same length as each other. Also the actually hand part that all the fingers connect onto is about the same length as the middle finger. The two fingers on either side of the middle finger are the same length but the pointer finger is placed slightly lower then the finger located on the opposite side of the middle finger. Also it's a good idea to imagine the hand as a shovel and that it is not square but gradually comes closer together as the fingers extend outward. When drawing the hand also be sure to mark the placements of the joints in the fingers. There are only two joints that are needed to be marked in each finger this includes the thumb. Also remember that finger nails do not cover the entire top part of the tip of the finger. The are where the four fingers connect to the top of the hand is curved. The entire hand including the fingers and thumb is about the size of your face.

It's pretty easy to draw hands because you don't really have to worry about proportions.

I'm not the best at it but it was going to be anything in depth. Just on the structure. I'd prefer if someone like you did one though.

Honestly, that homer sketch I put up was about the last character
sketch I did and that was almost a year ago. I finished up my finals
today, maybe I'll try something out. However, if you write anything,
use real life proprotions as if you're making a photorealistic drawing.
The anime drawing has been covered by Jullie Dilon. Very well I might
add.

But if you want people who are actually good, Finger would be much better at it then me. I mean, it's his job

Hands are tricky things to draw. I just try to view them as geometric shapes; rectangular sections connected with joints (fingers), attached to a rectangularish plane (palm).

Tutorials are great, but there are a ton of good tutorials out there that would be far more comprehensive than anything anyone here could do (including me). I would much rather talk about the technique of drawing or painting, than basic anatomy and such.

i made a giant stone hand in hl1 , but it got deleted = / should have created a
screenshot of it and ftp'd it somewhere, took forever to get it
to work "in game". Sorry about the off topicness of it all

I'd say study some anatomy books of hands or humans, always damn useful when you wanna draw people.
