There are lots of weapon entities like weapon_ak47, weapon_c4, etc., but no kevlar vests. Does anyone know how to place one?

im not a sc:s mapper, but i'm thinking it would be called something like item_kevlar.

mmmh weird all the weapons and there options but no kevlar :s, i gues
that valve had not added it to the enventory :sad: like func_fish :biggrin:

I'm pretty sure that there isn't one. I haven't seen it in any maps.

There doesn't appear to be a model for kevlar, but you can add it to your maps. Edit your cstrike.fgd file to include the following line:


@PointClass base(Weapon) = item_kevlar : "Kevlar" []

If you try adding a model like this:
@PointClass base(Weapon) studio("models/weapons/w_kevlar.mdl") = item_kevlar : "Kevlar" []
It'll still be invisible in game, but Hammer will show an "obsolete" icon for the entity instead of a coloured box.

Since it's invisible, you can either spawn the player on top of kevlar, or maybe make a box with "Kevlar" written on the side so the player knows where they can pick it up.

For some reason, Hammer or CSS reverts my cstrike.fgd file each time I run it, so you may have to watch for this.

So how do I get this into my map, I look along th entities list and I don't have an item_kevlar.

After you've changed your cstrike.fgd file (and restarted Hammer) it will show up in the entity list.

The clue is in the 2nd sentence:

It shouldn't matter if it keeps getting removed from the FGD though, as long as the game understands what an 'item_kevlar' is.

Oh, my bad, looks like I didn't save it.....

[edit] looks like I did, but whenever I open it again it isn't there, do you add it to the weapons bit, or right at the end?

so is there a way to get ammo on the groud, and then put it under the
weapon laying on the ground, so they pick up all of it and have a
weapon. and full ammo?
