I was more looking toward the basic modeling skills tutorials for 3ds max 7. also

is it harder / easier than blender

and thirdly how much different is it?

ooh , and i've tried to search google but most the types i see are not
very fun T_T. i might try to find the one that french did cuz that one
looks fun ^___^.

table and maybe something nice on top like a vase with an attempt to make flowers for the girlfriend.

Alright. First off, for the questions

1. I'd try to go to www.3dkingdom.com for that table
(which isn't that great, but a good introduction) And after that,
well I don't know

2. Having never used blender, I can't adequately say.
However, I'd pass this judgement; It's more complex, but once you
explore and adapt yourself to the "controls" if you will, then you'll
find it has much more potential for creativity.

3. This one I really can't say...

4. Yar. It's a good place to start. Another thing to
try would be the iPod Shuffle tutorial that I think... don't
quote me on this... is on 3dkingdom. It's a PDF that's quite a
good introduction to slightly more advanced techniques.

5. Indeed. If you make the table, and want to add a cup or
something, try and find a simple tutorial on the "Lathe" tool, which
will make cups/vases, and things of that nature simpler.

If you're feeling ambitious, or want to see something a little more
advanced, there are some tutorials at www.smcars.net.
It requires you to register, but is also an invaluable resource for
blueprints and community support.

Oh, sorry bout that. Every website should be .com, unless it's a
porn site... then org makes more sense if you know what I mean *wink
wink*.

Anyhoo, most of those buttons you're never going to end up using.
Trust me. Okay, I'm probably not the best person to trust, but
you're going to be using the drop down menus, and taskbar on the right
dominantly. I've never touched the buttons on the left yet.

Once you go through tutorials and play around, it's not very complicated at it's core. Until you get into complex stuff...

Try to render at a higher quality, and using Mental Ray if you're not.

It is a bit too bright, but my renders of this were either too dark or too bright.

Now that you've done this, try to add some cups, maybe a couch/chair. Just build on the scene.
