Lets see.

It all started with a Half-Life Single Player map called Caveday (I just came up with it I didn't really think about a name).
It had horror scripted events which were pretty fun to make.
Some things were too scary so I removed those :D
It also had 2 custom sounds so far. The lack of reality made me cancel it.

The next map I worked on was supposed to be played before the player got in the cave from "Caveday". The idea was to make a boat trip from a beach to the cave. During the trip you had to try not to fall into the water, because in there, were Ichtyosaurs.
I hardly worked on this map, and since the ideas were too insane and difficult to make, and since I didn't really manage to make nice looking mountains, it got cancelled.

Next map is a Left 4 Dead map that I've been working on not so long ago.
I tried to create the basketball field next to my house. I'm in a hurry now so I can't take a screenshot, but that'll come tomorrow probably. I am not sure if I'll continue with this map yet.

Right now, I'm out of ideas. Totally.
I would like to make a new map for Left 4 Dead, so if someone has a request (good map idea), I will see what I can do.

ps: This is my 100th post!

Too scary? Scary is good! And lack of reality? You don't have to make things realistic, things can be whatever you want them to be as long as you create a fun experience, people will play it! :)

Anyway, I always find it kind of strange when people say they're all out of ideas, I mean, I really wish I had more development stamina, I can only do so much developin' before I get tired and have to finish for the rest of the day. There are so many ideas I'd like to work on and not enough time!

In regards to the lack of ideas, decide whether or not you want a singleplayer or multiplayer map, pick a theme you like, do a bit of brainstorming, think about what you want in the level and whatnot, draw up a floor plan and get to it!

Hi Aaron, thanks for your reply.

Well the "too scary" thing was a joke actually. The reason why I deleted some scary parts was because they were too random. For example: You walk and suddenly there's an explosion right 2 centimeters away from you and around 50 skulls spawn on the ground looking at you.

Other things were much better, like suddenly a light going off, and you can hear freeman's heartbeat. When it gets even scarier, you can even hear him breathing. You walk further and suddenly there's a wall with a health dispenser on it. You want to use it since your health is below 100. Right when you want to use it the wall explodes, the light goes on, and there's a zombie right in front of you.
When you killed him you suddenly get attacked from behind. It's another zombie. The player thinks: how the hell did he get there so suddenly? When you killed that zombie also, you continue and on the left you see a slide door. When you open it you hear a custom sound (Like in movies when something suddenly happends) and a headcrab jumps right into your face.

What do you think about that? Do you think the idea is good?

It indeed is weird that I'm "out of ideas" since everyone says I have alot of fantasy.
It's just that most things that I make will fail, like with the other maps.
But the thing is sure, the next map will be a Left 4 Dead map (Single Player ofcourse).

Most ideas I come up with are too insane to make, especially since I'm not an expert mapper. But I can try it though.

So I've been thinking a bit and the next map will -if it doesn't get cancelled- be played in a train station. It will look a bit like the train part in Mirror's Edge.

Sounds like a good locale, given the art assests apart of L4D already. You shouldn't have much of a problem getting your ideas across. Will this be one map to play through? and in just sp mode? (no versus?)

Yeah it'll probably a single player map. I might make a Survival version later when I finished with this one.
SP And Survival are seperate aren't they? I mean they can't be run on the same map, right?

Umm, Valve has them as separate maps, but the function to have both modes be available on one map is there too.
