hmm, somehow the image I had uploaded got deleted from my Pit..

Oh and sorry for the extra large screen. I did a print screen and then pasted in paint. I was wondering why the file registered as 1874*768. It printscreened both my monitors.

Boot in safe mode and see if it works then. It sometimes has to do with programs not working well together, but it doesn't seem like you're running anything else...

Scanned for viruses/adware/spyware?

Try and remember if you installed anything recently that could be causing this.

Ait, I ran ad-aware and it took out a mear 14 files from Tracking Co. as usual, lol. AVG didnt pic up anything. On normal run, VHE didnt work, but then on safe mode, it worked this time. so then back to normal mode and nadda.

Ctrl-alt-del and see what programs are running. Eliminate them one by one until you find the offending one. Hopefully that'll work.

Well, I eliminated all the processes it allowed me to eliminate and VHE and MOHAA still wouldnt work. On top of that, I found out that terminating the svchost.exe is a rather bad idea. Once closed, it activated a shut down process on a 60 second timer.

Punches Omega in the face

Sorry, man, you deserved it

I know C++ ... but I've never used Microsoft's Visual C++ :mad:
If you're wondering, I program on UNIX, with VI text editor and GNU's g++ compiler, for C++ anyway. Actually come to think of it ... I use VI for everything on UNIX

Anyway, it's accessing memory that doesn't belong to it or something as such.

[EDIT 2]
Whoops, actually it looks like you're having a problem with OpenGL or something as such.

Since you also said that MOHAA will not run.

Try seeing if DirectX is running ok, if it is then just use DX for your games ... a way you could fix this is finding newer versions for the OpenGL libraries ... I'm not too 'keen' on this front ... this is where edge usually comes in
[/EDIT2]

Omega, that was all in jest of course

Go msblast. That SVHOST is basically your network connection protocol (if I remember correctly). So, turning one of the many patches off (which come up as the same name as the others) you turned off the msblast 'fix'. However, they were dips**ts about it, since they don't remove it from your computer and keep it from coming back ... they just make sure it never get's 'called'
[/EDIT]

Of course, why fix the problem when you can make more profit by simply blocking it making people feel safe and then later on offer to remove it.

Safe mode allows VHE to run, I didnt try MOHAA, was too lazy to throw in the CD. But in normal mode it dosent let me. And I tryed reintalling, after a FULL uninstall, but nothing.

Not really Crono  svchost is used to link DLLs to processes which require them at runtime. And shutting one of those svchosts down does cause the computer to shut off because some critical program does not find a host for some DLL. That's what causes it to shut off, not the virus, and this used to happen even in the pre-blaster days.

Updating them may help. I'm not sure really, I'm just spouting random suggestions in the vague hope that one is useful to you...

I didn't say I knew exactly what SVHOST was for.
Linking between DLLs and processes sounds incredibly inefficient since the DLLs are suppose to be modules ... Whatever 'link' I was thinking of was used for network protocol then.

ffs sort your screenshots out, heard of 'crop' tool? What have you recently updated on your PC? I'd ask if you'd been messing around with installing .NET (perhaps so you can use GCFscape or something), or what version of VHE you're using (you do realise you have to install 3.5 over a copy of 3.4?), but I don't get where the MOHAA error could be coming from. Like I said, what have you changed recently on your PC? Scanned for viruses too?

As far as I know, I havent changed a thing. Im running VHE 3.5 installed over 3.4 like you mentioned.

I've been Google searching it too but nothing comes up of any value.

Try turning down 3D acceleration when you load Hammer. This, so far, has for some reason solved every problem I've had with it. And, your desktop sucks.
