Well, I bought it the 16th, and finished it this morning. Overall I am pleased. I experienced no steam problems, and no motion sickness. No complaints.
1. Graphics are obviously awesome, Although there were a few times I felt the bump mapping and effects were toned down a bit, as a result of the source engine being so scalable. Some of the textures seemed a bit repetitive and bland. But there were also times when I had to sit back and look around me as I was amazed. IMHO I feel that they did a better job of interior maps than with the exteriors.
2. Story line was fantastic. I recognized Robert Culps voice the minute I got off the train in the first level. I have'nt been so drawn to finish a game since, well... HL1. I think we can expect an add-on (HL3) in waaay less than 6 years from now.
3. Sound was impressive as well. The physics engine creates many realistic effects as well as doppler, and an effective use of 5.1 surround. Not to mention some cool music throughout.
4. Complaints, well there are very few. The AI squadmates were constantly in my way(as mentioned in the other thread). The game burped on me in the last chapter, and the strider would'nt blow a hole for me to escape with. (True!, I even hid and walked away from my computer for like two hours and when I came back nothing had changed.) I had to go back to the beginning of the level and replay the whole thing. Finally worked though.
Stuttering, yes I had my fair share, but not enough to ruin the gaming experience though.
Finally, I would put this down as the finest singleplayer experience I have had in some time, with Far Cry and D3 a close second and third.
Nicely done Valve type guys!

I thought the exterior maps were all pretty well done, although they
all seemed a bit repetetive. In there airboat dam areas all the
places seemed the same as the last. Whereas all the indoor areas
seemed largely different. But the exterior maps I think looked
better. Maybe I just like being outdoors more  . But in a
couple of those areas on the airboat ride I remember saying to myself
wow, how am I still getting 40 fps here?
I think I had about equal fun playing far cry as I did HL2. I had
fun with far crys largely non-linear gameplay since not many games are
like that. Plus it was alot more picturesque with the ocean and
the islands.

Are you purposely going back 15 pages to post in a topic or something?
