ex-prefabber, semi-mapper, full-time slacker...talks a great deal but rarely says anything...better to just avoid this stupid f**k

Every time something happens that gives me additional cause to hate humanity I add another room to my Half-Life level.

STORY:

The human invasion of Xen went all according to plan. The Nihilanth is dead, thanks to Gordon Freeman, and the Xen forces are in disarray. In order to control the border world the military built multiple bases in strategic locations and began hunting down the remnants of the Xenian forces. The G-Man, with both Xen and Freeman in his control, is confident that he has accomplished his mission.

That is, until contact with one of the bases was lost. Recon teams were sent in, but none returned. Now you've been sent in to see what has caused this mess. Hope you have better luck than those who entered before you...
This is my competition entry. I know it's got some problems, but I wanted to enter anyways :P. Depending on people's reactions to it I may fix up any problems and redo the lighting.

Star map!
This is the spiritual successor to my first HLDM map Torque and also my competition entry. The layout is basically the same but of course it looks radically different. I'm very pleased with the way I managed to keep to the original design so well while still updating it to look alot better.

The theme is pretty simple. We've got a section of City 17 that's been fought over by the resistance and the Combine for quite some time. The connectivity and flow was always my favorite aspect of Torque, and I think I did a pretty good job of recapturing that for this map. There's plenty of pathways to get to where you need to go and some nice vertical play. The map is probably large enough to handle 20 or so players, but due to the compact and open nature of the map it could provide a good game with even 4 players. I'd suggest 12.

Yes, its been a couple of years since I released a Half-Life map...I did manage to become a much better mapper in the mean time. I took it upon myself to correct all of the mistakes I made in Torque and to make a high quality map, both visually and play-wise. After hours of hard work and the total abandoning of about five almost complete maps, I finally made a map I was happy with.

This is a medium-sized, fast-paced map that's fun for the whole family. There are six main areas interconnected with hallways and teleporters. All of the weapons except the snarks and hornetgun are included. Getting the egon is possible, but don't be cursing at me for tricking you to go after it. I made sure that the weapons are balanced, and that the ammo placement forces people to move around if they want the most out of the more powerful ones like the gauss and rpg. In my opinion, this kind of weapon/ammo placement provides the best deathmatch experience. ;) There is almost nowhere to hide and camp, so those of you who like that sort of thing better be prepared to lose.

Basically I created a map that I would like to play. Frankly, I'm pretty happy with how this map turned out. I hope you will enjoy playing it as I did building it.

This is a scripted sequence. First, the scientist walks up to the machine and tries to buy a cola. The machine refuses to dispense the desired beverage, so the scientist gets mad and starts pounding on the machine. A few small explosions go off, scaring the scientist. Then the machine falls on top of him.
