Hi all, i'm new here, and fairly new to mapping in general. i just
started working with radiant (the call of duty version) and i'm having
trouble with it. I've got all the basics (creating brushes, building
with them, textures, adding light entities, compiling etc.) but when i
go to run them in game (on multiplayer because the console doesn't work
on single player) i always get stuck in the floor. i've read lots of
tutorials and they all say have teh info_player_start at least 32 units
above the ground. tried that, compiled again, loaded up CoD. nothing.
still exactly the same. so i started a completely new map as a
test and placed the info_player_start 128 units above the floor, as
well as 128 units away from any of the other walls/brushes. still when
i compile and test, i'm stuck in the floor. can anyone offer any help
with this?
P.S: it may be relevant that i'm running the map on deathmatch to test it.
thanks in advance.

I've never mapped with Radient or for CoD, but I'm guessing that since
you are making a multiplayer map, the info_player_start points are
being ignored. In Half-Life (only game I map for I'm afraid) you also
have an info_player_deathmatch, and in multiplayer games it is these
that the player spawns at. If CoD is the same and uses a seperate
entity for multiplayer spawns, then since the game doesn't find any in
your map it will quite probably just throw you in at the origin of the
level - the coordinates (0,0,0). If there is a brush here like the
floor or whatever, then you might be spawning inside this object and
therefore become stuck.
Hope this helps, but as I said, I know very little about CoD or radient
so couldn't be sure. Oh and welcome to the pit - we are quite lacking
in radient mappers but I hope we offer you a decent enough mapping
'home' regardless

thanks for the suggestion, i'll try that as soon as i can get back on
my own comp. i thought it could be something like that, except i
was spawning quite close to where i put the info_player_start. oh well,
i'll see if that works.
cheers

Yeah my flatmates tell me to all the time, but WWII isn't a setting that appeals to me really, as much as I enjoy DoD.
