Maps

I was asked by the leader of the Adrenaline Gamer modification Bullit to create a CTF map for the new gamemode being added to the next version of the mod, and so I was only too happy to oblidge. The map was a pleasure to work on but due to the size constraints of HL mapping I simply couldn't fit in everything I wanted. The hugely open base entrances came off very well in my opinion - not only looking good and providing lots of cool gameplay possibilities, but it also runs well. As its a big map, its best for full sized CTF games of 12 players or so. As this map is part of the AG mod, it can be found included in the newest AG version, which can be downloaded from their website... http://www.planethalflife.com/agmod

Star map!
A small, symmetrical level that makes absolutely no sense in terms of theme! Think of it as a strange (and under-equipped) atrium between two factories, that is rather unfortunately built over an open sewer. The level was built for Mapcore's 1024 unit contest, in which all of the entries had to have their playable area confined to within a 1024 unit cube. Obviously there are areas of this map that extend beyond that, but they are clipped off to prevent player access. Sacrifices were made to the initial plans in order to get it done for the deadline, and while there are plenty of things about the level I'm not completely satisfied with, overall I think it turned out ok given the fairly short development time and small area restriction.

Snarkpit 2004 "Original theme" mapping contest entry.

This map placed joint third in the voted category despite very stiff competition. Its a tad too large and open for the aging HL engine, with the skybox using about 99% of the x/y grid in hammer, and most of that being taken up by a giant fully viewable volcano island. That said, it does run and can be fun with 3 or 4 people running around. Weapons and armour are dished out when you spawn as the map is pushing the engine enough as it without placing loads of items around.
