AMD Sempron 3000+ (2ghz)

128mb ATI Saphire 9800 pro

512mb DDR 400

and a 7 200 RPM and a 8mb buffer

hmm.. haven't you asked this before.. perhaps it's just me..

I guess those specs will run HL2 decently. Perhaps not with everything maxed out though.

I think HL2 had a few more settings other than the resolution.
Look up the recommended specs on google to give you an idea of wether
it'll work smoothly or not.

I'm guessing having only 128mb of RAM on your graphics card could be a
limiting factor, aren't 9800 pro's normally 256mb? I also don't really
know much about these new Semprons - aren't they the new Duron
replacement? If they are, you may want to look at getting an Athlon XP
instead, and it would probably be worth having a lower clock speed for
a larger cache so you wouldn't necessarily need to spend much more on
it.

I think others know more about the current gen of processors, so wait
for more info from some of them before taking my word on the matter!

I question your choice of shop - CCL have never seemed to have a good
selection in my opinion. I'd suggest checking out these places as well
before you commit to any order...

I wasnt aiming for that I was just saying what mine were so he could see a pc thats not far off what he wants and to say that that works fine at 1024x768.

[Edit]: forgot
But I could see it was goning to end up as one anyway

There is nothing wrong with posting your PC Specs. Just do it withen a
topic that allows it. Some guy asking for your feedback on his new
machine doesn't need to turn into an encyclopedia of users computer
specs. Trust me,
I've seen it
before
.

Sh**ty.

Two things
though.

First: ' means feet, not inches. Inches is a double
quote ".
Second: That signature looks familiar  (I figured
you stopped using it by now)

No, 9800 Pros are perfectly fine with 128MB...I've got a 9800 Pro with 128MB and at 1024x768 4xAA 6xAF I get 40-450fps averaging around 90/100. Semprons are the the Athlon XP replacement, they're a little lower in some cases than a regular Athlon XP but better than a Duron. So they're cheap processors but very good cost:performance. Personally if you're going below A64 I'd recommend the 2500+ Barton mobile.
