HI. What do I need to model my own prop_static in hl2? Is there a hl2 plugin for maya personal learning edition?

This is the official modelling program for HL2.

Google for some tutorials to get you started.

XSI is the officially supported free modelling program, and looks like a very powerfull one at that. it also has some nice tuts, one of which explains the importance of assembling your own set of custom tools which it claims are vital for a good workflow. the tut takes you step by step through quite a complicated proccess (for me) of how to make these tools. at the end of the tut i felt quite satisfied that i'd taken in as much as i could, only to find that the free version wont let me save any of these vital tools.

that's nice, i thought, and promptly uninstalled it.
