I think it would be helpful if you knew the actual error - but try doing map>Check for Errors, often that can be a life saver

the actual error i got was " 1 solid(s) could not be loaded press ok ". after that it has all gone to crap on me. I checked for problems and got nothing, so im wondering if i need to reinstall sdk at this point, because i have no idea what happened, but its not saving my progress when i compile my map. seams like a hammer bug to me, unless someone has found a fix. What i think i did wrong was making a cylinder and shrinking it to small. I deleted that brush after that error but it didnt help.

well instead of reinstalling you can just do Refresh SDK Content, under utilities in the SDK - it might help but it might now.

Alt-p then if that doesnt find anyting, file---> export to .map,
then close out hammer, and re open the .map, then go ALt-p to find bad
brushes.

edit: although i dont know how you can do that, seeing as the steam network is down as of now!!!!!!!

i had that problem too, but i didn't got that error message, it all
worked fine when i deleted or fixed some invalid solid structures in my
map, so if you have any of these, delete them or something

thank you for the input. The exporting did the trick:). It deleted my water fountain so maybe that was causing a problem, but ive had that on my map for awhile so dont know what happened there. Thanks for all the help hopefully im good to go again.
