Me and hugh made a halloween map. Made 1 day before halloween, so its late. All construction was basically done by me (Hugh made a building or 2). But, hugh did the most important job..Lighting it properly!
Thanks to DocRock for the Bat and Tree model's.
[LINK REMOVED] Had wrong version, wait a bit for me to get new one.
(Was too big for my Snarkpit Account)
Enjoy.

in one corner, you exceeded the maximum i allow on r's, but the rest looks pretty damned good, considering its so open..
my one complaint, the models of the bottles shoulda been illusions, you get stuck on them..
tis a decent map.

Thanks orph. I know, the bottles were a bit screwed.
In the begining, r_`s were excellent, towards the end I started to rush (You can see from some areas) and I didnt worry about them.
Considering that the map took 1 1/2 days to complete, it turned out fairly nice.

Looks much better with the brighter pics; I'm quite impressed by the lighting and street architecture in places

Mmmm, I was thinking that, DocRock.
It doesnt look overly hot as that either, a wee bit confused between city/office/industrial estate.
The street lamps do look too big IMO, and some of the texture changes between materials are quite bad... Try putting "borders" (doorframes, supports, whatever) between material changes.. it looks so much more convincing and adds another bit of detail into your level.

i just cannot resist the temptation guys so forgive me..
gwil, doc, the pic doc posted looks no more halloweenish than vash's does, its a big house set near a graveyard.. spooky? possibly, but not halloween at all..
either way, its the same.
his map is just as good, and just as halloween.
if his is not, neither is yours.

Eh? What's with arguing the case for "you havent done any better/cant do any better" of late? If everyone walked round with that mindset we would never have heard of critical reviews!!
and I'm not sure about anyone else, but my idea of halloween was always spooky houses, bats, ghosts, witches, et al. Which is a little stereotypical, I must admit, but Docs looks far closer to that idea of Halloween in my head than Vashs map does..

I know my map isnt halloweenish. But I named it FrightNite because, this is as halloween as I can get given a day and a half, and I just wanted to do a cool, fun little map to get away from BlackOp Retreat for awhile.

Of the two, Doc's map looks much closer to a Halloween theme. Apart from the bat models, I don't see anything "spooky" in Vash's map - though I haven't downloaded it, whereas I have downloaded Doc's.
