i'd like to make a german counterpart before i do any more allied aircraft. but as making the skin is the hardest part for me, and the mustang must be 80% the same as the lightning, then there wouldn't be too much do do in that respect.
i dunno if i have a favourite ww2 aircraft. there are lots of special ones, but all for different reasons. the mosquito for it's balsa wood construction, the spitfire for the graceful lines. and its merlin engine too, that eventually made the the mustang the plane it was designed to be, which was a goodun, but a bit of a late starter. even some of the crazy russian designs that make you wonder if you were paying attention in science class.
i think the fondness i have for the p38 comes from seeing one flying when i was a nipper, and wondering why it didn't have the cargo pod in the middle, just like my thunderbirds model.

it seen a little service near the end of the war. Hitler insisted that every effort was made to to get it in the air, or it probably wouldn't have made it. the cost was the diversion of resources away from the production of the more needed (at that point) battlefield aircraft. if it wasn't for Hitler and his tampering with 'pet projects', i'm pretty certain that germany would have kicked our asses.

it was bad enough in my family history, that they supposedly changed our last name spelling to look less German.
they Americanized Rickenbacker, from Richenbacher or some such. /me is not certain. thats just what i heard as a child.

/me just noticed, you virtually own the models download section
/me still feels that there should be more fanfare associated with decent modeling.
i have made a few to many suggestions around here, perhaps if someone else posted the request in the "site suggestion" thread.
shrugs
/me is off to nite/nite now.
be good all.

I would like to see a me 109/AS late or a e-k version, what ever suits
you best! If possible in invasion colours and if you dont want that one
the F-4 version is also fine.
And offcourse my everlasting favorite: The p-39. It has those nice one
shot kills explosive 37mm rounds. If you hit you got a guaranteed kill,
though its harder to out turn the 109, but you can always outrun it by
increasing the prop pitch whom has a better use then in the 109, you
can out turn him on this wwith a horizontal yo-yo, though this requires
practice and isnt always easy to aply in a cs.
Though the yoyo is a favorite acm it sometimes loses its use if you got
a LA-7 on your tail, then the best thing is out runnning in and hammer
head you guns on him.
Also a fine plane is the Il-2 Sturmovik 'flying tank'. IF possible the late 1941 model.
Oh, your model looks great, though the inlet is deeper then you created
it, and it looks a bit squashed, though that may be the perspective.
