I just decided to try to make MOD, test it out, but I don't have any program do that with. Where can I get Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 v7.1 ? Or what can I use in place of this program that comes with HL2?

Well... i can't recommend you The Pirate Bay. Also I cannot recomend
you google to search for The Pirate Bay. Also, I cannot say it is an
ORGanisation.

And indefinitely i may not recommend you to search the pirate bay for Visual Studio 2003 .NET.

I guess all the game is made with .net or c++ but. there are some C/C++
compilers for free out there, and some are compatible with visual
studio/.net 'things'.

So... you may want to try this one:

http://www.q-software-solutions.de/products/lcc-win32/index.shtml

or better:

http://www.bloodshed.net/dev/devcpp.html

both are absolutely free

There's about four C++ compilers that cost money. The other nine billion are free.

My suggestion, go get Linux. Program on that.

Kedit is just fine, and then just use gcc.

Sadly you can't. You need a win32 compiler to develop for source/hl2  Now, that doesn't mean you have to use Microsoft's Win32 compiler.

Cygwen32 is about as close to Linux development as you can get on a win32 platform (unless GNU made one themselves of course). It's actually a port, if I'm not mistaken, of the entire GCC suite.

More info: http://www.willus.com/ccomp.shtml

Then you can use whatever suite you wish ... no need to pay money or pirate. Also, you'll be guaranteed a far better compiler (that follows standards).

Oh and Vi(m) is better, not to mention, Kedit is a KDE only application, thus the 'K'. Though, Kedit or something as such, will probably be easier for you to use. But, this is a moot point anyway.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
