I started my mapping career in the times of Quake, using Worldcraft for it.
When I got my hands on Half-Life 1 map editing, I moved over to this. I used to learn mapping for quite a few years from that point. When I discovered Valve Hammer Editor, I thought about making couple of maps for release. I never got any of them that far.
Last spring, when Source came out, I took on VHE 4 and started learning this. It was cool. And here I am now... VHE being the favourite level editor and using it all the times.
I have also tried UnrealEd, but this subtract-system of Unreal Worlds is really weird. As I can still understand the UnrealEd, I don't like it very much. You have to rely more on numbers than you do in Source.

The map is made out of my homehood, as much as I can do it (or as much as the map allows). At first i just wanted to push engine to its limits, but then i figured that if I made it as a war map, it would be lots better. So - right now I am making a building where you start from. It's difficult, making all these hallways etc and making it as realistic as it looks in real life. I also have basic knowledge of NPC and making them "move" :P, so probably you see from the window that war is going on outside and you can either climb to roof and view it or grab your weapons from the table and join the rebels.
The map will probably take place in evening, so streetlights are on and it's a bit darker than full day map. Since only one building is ready for now, and there are LOTS of buildings, then... well you can't expect it very soon. When I finish first one, i put up few screenshots.

Inspired from my project in Incoming: Source, this map is taking place on two islands that are separated from eachother by a frozen block of water. Read more to see what's behind all of this.

Small, fun map. Meant to play couple of rounds in mapcycle to cool down some feelings. I created a nice skybox :) Gives a "hilly" feeling. Nothing special in that map, just a quick, fast, aim map.
