Ok,
in my map I have a few explosive barrels. When you shoot them you see
the barrel be blown to pieces and shards go everwhere. But there is no
fire or smoke or anything. Even when you throw grenades, there is no
explosion. Just noise and damage. Someone also said that smoke grenades
dont work, and when he throws a flash bang it gets choppy. Anyone know
why i dont have any explosions. When i looked for problems with Alt + P
i only got stupid lighting errors and buyzone errors i fixed easliy.
now i have no idea whats going on and why.

Strange.

Well, it appears that if you just make a prop_physics or prop_physics_multiplayer and give it the oil drum exploding model ... it'll work, since it has it's own properties.

Try remaking a couple of them and using the hand gun to blow them up. Just shoot them a couple times to see if they catch fire and such.

If it still doesn't work ... I don't know what to tell you, because that's how you make exploding barrels.

It could be that its CS:S and they removed that to save resources.

try making it a prop_physics instead of a prop_physics_multi, or vise-versa.

Does your map have smoke_volume in it? or lots of steam entities? Source can only draw so many sprites (20,000 I think) Place any partical entities in a VIS group and hide them, then compile.

ok, I didn't read the last post, but yeah if you max out your particals no more will show up.
