Great way to either get yourself burned, or this thread ignored chum. I am not sure what you are asking but it sounds like its editing.

I thought that HDR was a client side thing, not the map-makers
respoinsibility. Or they just haven't relesaed the SDK tools for
it yet.

Perhaps some clarification is in order. What exactly is this fella asking about?

The bloom effects basically introduce several "overlays" onto the
screen to make things a lot brighter. There is a mod somewhere but I'm
not sure where it is. It's all code stuff, not something you can put in
a map. Try searching the news archives at halflife2.net

He said the "bloom" effects, which were added with the addition of
HDR. I believe he wants to know how to add them to a CS or DM
map, like in Garry's Mod.

I know that I am going to regret this but.. WTF is HDR?

You've used it twice as if its significant to the problem, but by abbreviating it, you are NOT clarifying, simply continuing my ignorance.

High Dynamic Range Lighting... A new feature introduced in Day of Defeat and to be incorporated into all Source games.

You can google it to find out more. It's pretty much cutting edge technology.

Indeed, AtM is correct. If you want to see how it changes the
lighting, go into your options > video > advanced, and turn on
Bloom.

Sounds a lot like Doom III stuff. I will have to check this out... uhh, before I do though, this isn't another long ass update thing, is it? I don't want another hours long visit into 56k land.

No updating... it'll just slow the hell out of your computer when you turn it on.

Now it REALLY sounds like Doom III.

No worries, I have machine enough to spare.

You could just play hl2 sp through garrys mod. It will activate all the blur, distance, and bloom effects that are there.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Bloom might be implementable through an entity in the map, I dont know how. It also might be available as a user setting/console command somewhere, I dont know where.

For HDR to work, the map must be compiled with HDR. Hence HDR requires some extra work from the mapper (or more specifically, the mapper's computer) to work.

It also costs a lot more space, hence larger downloads for maps... :|
