Don't feel you have to make everything so big - use more subtle
brushwork. In source you can certainly use more than 8 sided cylinders
for objects like that planter thing in the middle of the courtyard. You
can afford to do more than place a big, featureless, angled surface as
a roof, and a big flat surface with holes cut in it as a wall. Look at
the size of the stairs you have in front of the house for example, what
height are they? They look massive to me - use twice as many at half
the height, it will be far more realistic. It's early days and there
isn't much to see, which is probably why you haven't had many comments.
At the moment you seem to be building this as if it is for HL1, not
source. Take advantage of the newer tech :smile:

also a good skybox, I'd work on that first so you can fit the house into its setting.
