Perhaps a poll is in order:<br style="color: lightblue;">
<br style="color: lightblue;">
Do you find Underdog to be a whinny, annoying, pompous ignoramus, whose posting drives you to the brink of insanity?<br style="color: lightblue;">
<br style="color: lightblue;">
A. Yes, I would like to punch him right in the face.<br style="color: lightblue;">
<br style="color: lightblue;">
<span style="color: lightblue;"> B. No. Who is the Snarkpit?

Oh, sorry, the text seems to have turned blue :heee: .

I will take what I have learned here into the future of my gaming.
'atta boy.

Underdog, some of your things just seem excessively overdramatic. I
can't say much since you arrived while I was gone. It just seems you
give a huge life story and expect so much, when really not a whole lot
is necessary. If you need clarification to what I mean I can do that,
otherwise just take note and there's nothing more from me.

hmmmmm.... When I was reading what Underdog said I couldn't help but notice the similarities to how he feels to how I felt when I first started getting picked on. But still, there was no reason to take it out on me. What do you have against me?

Anyway, I noticed that even though I can start a server I still have trouble getting the hang of it. What would you say I should do to start a server? I've tried everything possible and it almost seems like he can randomly join, sometimes he can and sometimes he can't.

Could be problems with his knowledge of connecting too remember, I know
a few of my friends are HLtarded and aren't exactly pro at connecting
to mine, and I know they work just fine. There are lots of little
things that can make a client unable to connect. Make sure every time
you find out EXACTLY what it's told them, not "I couldn't connect"
because that explains nothing. It's too general.

For an adult you're acting pretty childish
You of all the people I have butted heads with are the last person to use such a concept. Everything you say to me when we do so is childish to me. This is only my opinion of course but still its exactly how I view our ordeals. I however, do not consider acting childish to be a bad thing when you consider that the older one gets, the more we cling to childish actions as a sort of retaining of our youth. You make it sound as if its a sin, or nearly sinful to be/act like a child. I hold it in reverence.

Just let it go. No big deal, just try to treat people all the same.
Good advice but alas poor when used. Treating different people as if they are somehow the same just because they are online is exactly why so many confrontations occur. I am not you, so the act of someone talking to me as if I were you would only infuriate me since I consider most of what you think important here to be so much background noise to be ignored if at all possible. On the same notion, you more than likely feel that everything I hold dear to be so much drivel. You probably feel that acting old as I do to be some sort of a stigma to be avoided. Most times when I talk about older things you tend to lose interest. I do not fault this since most times older people do tend to be annoying. I annoy myself more than you imagine.

How am I setting a bad example as a moderator by asking you to stop making them?
Its bad because you act as if thats the beginning and the end of your responsibility. IT IS NOT!
Your obligation as moderator/admin is to assure that everyone else knows that you are ON TOP of the situation and as such REQUIRE no input from them in regards to how the person you are talking to/reprimanding should be further treated.
The fact that you did not say "Leave Underdog alone, I took care of it just fine thank you" was a sign that you had no further interest in doing WHATS RIGHT. In other words, it was not much more than mob mentality at a lynching. In many cases the one being reprimanded is more/less restricted from defending themselves because they are told to "Drop it"
Each additional person who more/less threw stones after you took charge should have been made known that their help was not necessary nor essential to your further actions in this situation. You dropped the ball and were not even aware of it. Notice I said exactly "FROM BAD TO MORE BAD" I did not say from bad to worse. The situation did not improve because you had spoken, it remained the same. This is how you messed up. I Do not necessarily fault you for what you did, you were correct in doing so. You did however handle it only halfway and should have made sure that all parties were represented fairly.

Sadly, there is nothing you could say that would amount to more than your opinion of the situation. You could dig up examples all day long and they would be nothing more than that. I do believe that you mean exactly what you say but to me its nothing more than the fact that I do things differently than you would. Not bad, nor good, just differently.

I am still contemplating my actions. I do not feel that I was justified however, I am still endeavoring to ascertain "WHY" I acted in such a manner when it is not within my nature to do so. I am notoriously mild mannered to the point of annoying my fellows because I am the last to see things in a poor way. Since I have been here I have been on the defensive so many times that I have acquired a "Gun Shy" mentality. I do not like this position and am at a loss to figure out where and when I acquired it.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to all and may you have a nice dinner and many family members to reminisce with.

And to put things in perspective, even if your computer crashes HL2 constantly and you're banned from Steam forever, it's just a game, after all.

You're still fed, you still got a roof over your head, you don't have any terminal illness.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that. When my map isn't going well, or someone gets overly critical of my map, I put things in perspective. It's not like I'm going to lose my job over a lightmap or lighting error.

We're all privileged people, having the leisure of debating these mapping issues on the internet. There are people who are being tortured, who would give anything just to have freedom or another chance in life.

Sorry to bring up a so called "dead thread" but I feel as though the problem is'nt resolved. I have tried to have a server with my friend and at almost random it seems he's able to connect. I tried everything, starting a server with the button, from the console "maxplayers 2 - sv_lan 0 - map xxxx" and we've tried BOTH IPs:
  • connect 67.48.107.84
  • connect 192.168.1.101
I also made sure that my ports are forwarded and enabled and I turn off my firewall. What is wrong?

He will never be able to connect to 192.168.x.x unless he's either
wired in your network or using wireless with your connection so don't
bother.

Make sure to put developer 1 on as well so you know what's going on and
can see people connecting with more detail. As well, just select the
max players in the create server launch options, don't make it more
trouble than it already is and make sure they already have the map.

Make them try:

connect 67.48.107.84:27015
