I have an old Casio digital watch. It's a Databank Telememo 30 (official model DBC-30). I just changed its battery this morning at a local watch store, but now the watch beeps every time I press a button.

It drives me nuts.

I want a silent watch. I searched all over the internet to find a solution or a copy of the manual, but I couldn't locate anything useful. I emailed Casio support, but they're non-responsive. It's an old watch, but I had it for more than four years now. It's the first time that I had to change the battery.

Is there any ultra-techie at the Pit who can help me?

Unlikely, without a picture of the watch or a manual. I guess all you can really do is look harder for a manual, or fiddle with the buttons.

Casio says the battery is only suppose to last 2 years.

I tried giving it a look. Doesn't look like they have the manual for that watch online. Do you have the module number? That'd be the easiest way to find it.

Post it up if you're still having trouble.

[EDIT]
So, I found it.

http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_manual/wat/en/qw1253.pdf (right click and save if you can)

I went over to Casio's site, the link I put up earlier, found the watch with that model. Didn't notice the module number sill after I posted (took another 35 billion hours for the SP to load) put in the module number under the support >> manual >> watches path. Gave me the manual for that watch.

I know, Casio's estimation for the battery life is much shorter than in real life. The watch store's clerk told me that the battery usually lasts three or four years (it's a Lithium battery).

Thanks Crono. I know someone would come to the rescue. I'll take a look at hte manual now.

[EDIT]

Crono, you're a God. I found exactly what I needed in the manual, and now my watch doesn't beep anymore. It's really non-intuitive. I had to switch to hte calculator mode, and then press the timer start/stop button. There's no way in hell that I was going to guess that.

Once again, SnarkPit saved me. I love you guys (in a buddy, non-homosexual kind of way).

No problem.

I'm not sure if it has anything about that beeping in it, but it looks like it has all of the out-of-box-operations possible on the watch. But, all I went by were model numbers, so.

Hey, I said the watch is old. But it's a oldie and a goodie. I love it to death.

I don't know what I would do if something happens to it.
