I recently got a new motherboard, processor and video card. Was just curious if others have bought anything new, too. It has been a huuuge headache for me just getting to this point. It's a crazy long story that started with a $30 fan and ended up being about $800 when all was done.
Anyway, I gots me:
Sapphire X1900 XT
Asus A8N-E board of motherliness
AMD X2 3800+
(Had to switch straight-up with a friend of mine with my Antec TrueBlue PSU for his OCZ Modstream PSU since it didn't have a 24-pin connector, just another piece of the huge travesty.)
I still have problems in the two games I tried to fix, and I've tried almost everything. At least everything else works
I also somewhat un-relatedly got a Thermaltake Armor case...man, I don't think I've seen a nicer one around (and I've seen a ton of cases), other than the black one only coming in "heavy" haha.

I upgraded in July. But dammit, I wish I waited a month. Everything except for the video card I bought dropped drastically in price, I probably could have saved around $120.
Total came to about $700 and includes everything except a mouse, monitor, and DVD drive. Everything has luxurius warranties as well.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Yeah, but I bet having a whole month of upgraded goodness was probably worth it. Right? Right? (I'm trying to make you feel better, work with me here)

Conratulations on mixing all the quality parts into a working computer. Today even choosing a stick of RAM gets me a headache. So many options. And everything so expensive.

It would have ... except I had to go visit some family during that month and due to the Hard Drive issues during the time my fun-ability was restricted.
Oh also, for the exact same price on the video card I could grab one now just like it, which supports HD gaming. (faster clocks is the only difference)

Yeah, I got lucky this time when I chose my parts, I got the stuff after price drops on all of them. (The X2 was about $60 cheaper and the vid card was $5-600 a few months ago and I got it for half that.) The first initial build of the computer sucked because I had to buy it during the RAM price gouge time, when 1GB cost about $300 even though 2 months prior it was half that.
