How do i get sprites from hl1 into hl2? hl1 used spr. files for sprites and hl2 uses vmt. and vmf. files right? So how do i convert a spr. file into a vmt and vmf? (or any other way you can do it.)

i'm not sure about the whole conversion thing, but sprview can save animated .spr files to a series of .bmp files, if that helps.

Ok sweet i can convert a bmp into a .wad file and then convert the .wad into the .vtf and .vmt files from there. I got the sprite to show up in the textures browser but unfortunetly i get a black box around the env_sprite ingame and in hammer (and yes i did the rendermode - additive thing). any ideas?

I put the .vmt and .vtf files into my half-life 2\hl2\Materials\sprites folder. I made up the sprites folder. Anything im missing? User posted image
