How do you use the monster_osprey?

Whenever I try to use it the level crashes and will not play. I do have human_grunts in the level.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you get any error messages? Are you sure the osprey is crashing the level?

Check this out too.

No offence but the site you listed doesn't help me. I do not need help getting it to move. I simply just want it in the level to replenish soldiers.

I am 100% sure that the osprey IS causing the crash. The osprey and the soldiers are the only things in the level.

I do get an error message. The following is an exact quote of the error message:

"Half-Life Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

If you can help me that would be great. Thanks!

If you tell me how I can post an image on this page then I can show you exactly the error message that comes up.

I would like to know even if you don't need to see it just in case I need to for some other time.

Thanks!

Ok ok, there was no need to mark my answer as incorrect, just because it didn't help you dosen't mean it is incorrect, but whatever.

Create an imageshack account to upload images, I don't need to see what the error message looks like.

This error that you get usually comes up when there is some sort of error/conflict outside the map, such as an error in the code, models missing animations etc.

To eliminate the fact that it is an outside error, delete the existing osprey and anything that might effect it (info_node_air .. I think thats what its called), than create a new Osprey and do not change any of the settings, leave them all as they are, than compile the map and test.

If you don't get any error messages than that means there was something wrong with the old Osprey, or something that was affecting it, we can help you make a proper one.

If you still get an error message, than something outside of the map is wrong. Are you using spirit of half-life? Did you download a custom map that uses custom dlls? Have you changed the Osprey model?

Sorry I marked your post as incorrect because it didn't help.

I deleted the old osprey and all of the other things that could effect the osprey. I am not using spirit of Half-Life. (I don't even know what that is)

I did not do anything to the osprey model at all. (I don't even know how to)

I'm not exactly sure about if I downloaded any maps that use custom dlls but the osprey did not work even before I ever downloaded anything.

If you can help me get this problem solved I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your help.

Strange, email the map file to aarondakilla@gmail.com and I'll take a look at it.

Yeah, I looked at the map.

You didn't even look at the tutorial I gave you a link to (and you marked as incorrect!) did you?

You showed me a box room, with an osprey, a hgrunt, 2 lights and a sp spawn point.....

That tutorial shows you how to get the osprey moving (which you don't know how to do) and even explains how to get it to replenish the solders, which you said it yourself, is what you want.

It even comes with an example map showing you how to set it up properly, that dosen't help?

I just wanted to let you know that I did read it [the tutorial] before. I didn't know that it had to move for it to work. I just (at the time) wanted it to stay stationary.

I will take a look at the sample map. I am also planning on getting Hammer 3.5 very soon. Maybe even today!

The osprey is flying now and I have it looking normal but it will not replace the soldiers when they are killed. Do you know why it won't replace them?

Just letting you know that I am back to Hammer 3.4. I tried to use 3.5 and it won't compile anything. (The compile menu is totally blank) Oh well, don't worry about it. I'm content with 3.4.

Thanks.
